I managed to get rid of it on Windows 8 by opening Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15Īnd deleting the files "msouc.exe" and "msosync.exe", which of course you have to go into task manager and shut down first or it'll block them. I still miss finding the "Location" (as in Win 8.1) option that allows me to put the local copy of OneDrive files onto a secondary store rather than consume the mainĬrazy if a user has more files stored on OneDrive than spare disk space on their local machine and OneDrive sync tries to download local copies (in the background) until the device chokes and dies.įor new installs / updates: kill OneDrive before it kills clients, The folder set to something appropriate for a test machine, I can't get the selection back again.Īt present: uninstall then re-activate is the only way I found to get a fuller options set. The OneDrive UI in the current build seems to be hacked down to being non-functional.Īfter an "uninstall" and reboot, I re-enabled it by clicking the OneDrive tile (it never went away) and then an icon appeared on the taskbar that provided the options that I couldn't find elsewhere (such as which folders to select). As noted by now: Right mouse the tile on the Start Menu and select Uninstall to kill it off.
